About chinaebikes.uk

chinaebikes.uk is an independent publication about electric bikes and scooters, written for riders in the UK. A large proportion of the e-bikes, conversion kits and batteries on British roads are designed or made in China, and buyers face the same questions again and again: is this legal here, is the battery safe, and who will fix it when it breaks?

We try to answer those questions clearly, without hype and without selling anything.

Why it looks like a message board

This domain once hosted an e-bike and scooter discussion board. The current site keeps that familiar layout as a nod to the format: boards for topics, rows for articles, a breadcrumb at the top. It is now run independently as an edited article site. There are no user accounts, logins or comment threads, and nothing here is carried over from the earlier site.

What we cover

  • E-bikes: commuter, folding, cargo and conversion bikes.
  • E-scooters: private and rental scooters and where the law stands.
  • Batteries & Motors: lithium-ion care, charging safety and drive systems.
  • UK Rules & Safety: EAPC rules, insurance and riding safely.
  • Buying Guides: importing, warranties, spares and value.

Editorial standards

Articles are written for readers, not search engines. We aim to be accurate and to point readers to official sources such as GOV.UK for anything legal. Our articles are general information, not legal, financial or professional advice. If you spot an error, please let us know and we will correct it.

We accept guest articles from riders, mechanics and people who work in the industry. Sponsored or guest content is clearly attributed to its author. See the Write for Us page for details.
